Stuart trained as an architect and an urban designer and was the Director of Urban Design for the State of Victoria, Australia. Previously he held a similar role for the City of Melbourne. Widely regarded as a highly creative and extremely competent designer, Stuart advises on numerous boards and committees on high quality urban design outcomes. His work has included urban design (in both private and public roles) in Britain, the USA, South-east Asia, New Zealand and Australia. Stuart regularly works with The Group providing strategic level urban design input to a variety of public space and master planning projects.
