John is a specialist in the cultural sector having worked for many years running major institutions as well as providing strategic advice.
John’s 25 years’ experience in working within complex bi-cultural and indigenous environments in New Zealand and internationally, give John a comprehensive global perspective, understanding and keen interest. He is skilled at encouraging wining relationships in this context through encouraging collaboration and mutual respect to achieve new, often boundary pushing outcomes.
He also brings to his distinctive and industry- leading work, projects and teams a combination of extensive experience of the cultural sector, including the arts and built and natural heritage, practical experience of working in and managing organisations at chief executive level, his analytical understanding of visitor markets and his ability to think laterally and creatively.
John has significant experience in the development of product with a distinct cultural and Indigenous focus, including developing a framework and pilot program for enhancing and developing global best practice, distinctly New Zealand visitor experiences that increase visitor demand, satisfaction and spend, including for the Waitangi Treaty Grounds and Cape Reinga visitor experiences.
